Am I Mentally Ready For Retirement?

Many times, I have seen people who are financially ready and well equipped for retirement. But when the time comes, they are left scrambling and feel as though they made a mistake. This is because they have not mentally prepared for retirement.

Often times, people fail to consider the effect retirement has on your mental health and wellness. When you retire, it is a good idea to have something to anchor you. This could be extra time with family, a big trip you are planning to celebrate, or a new hobby to keep you busy and your mind active.

Make sure any mental health problems are discussed with a doctor or therapist. Getting someone elses perspective can help set you up for success and ensures that you have taken care of your mind to enjoy your retirement to the fullest. Taking care of your body is also an important factor to consider when you ask yourself if you are mentally ready for retirement. Start exercising, or including more activity in your life to make sure you can fully enjoy your new found free time with retirement.
